ART! Design Week RI – Open Studios Weekend with 21 Places to Go

Posted

NOVEMBER 6-8TH | 11AM-9PM DAILY

DESIGN WEEK RI 2026 continues with their statewide Open Studios Weekend, offering a rare behind-the-scenes look inside design studios, maker spaces, and creative businesses across Rhode Island.

Open Studios invite you to step inside the places where design happens, meet the people behind the work, and experience creative processes firsthand. It’s an opportunity to ask questions, make connections, discover new practices, and get a closer look at the people and businesses shaping Rhode Island’s creative community.

From visiting a rug tufting studio and witnessing how eyeglasses are handcrafted, to exploring glassblowing studios and ceramic slip-casting businesses, Open Studios offers an inside look at the tools, techniques, and ideas that bring creative work to life.

We’ll feature just one – but there are at least 22 places to go this weekend – but – let them know you are coming!

Night Light Neon

Founded by Nick McKnight, Night Light Neon is a full-service neon studio in specializing in bespoke lighting & signage. Located at 217 Oak Street in Providence. From design, to bending the glass, to filling with gas, painting, assembly, to installation, Night Light Neon takes incredible care and handling of each project. With 15+ years of experience in the sign & event industry, handling, fine art & glass, Nick started Night Light Neon to continue a rich tradition of craft with handmade objects.

Full-service neon design & fabrication studio

Owner & operator Nick McKnight and his wife Cassie moved back to Rhode Island to raise a family and put down roots in the Ocean State. As both are practicing artists (Cassie being a scenic designer and painter & Nick with a background in neon and fine arts) they wanted to build upon their creative foundation within the Providence community.

With over 20 years of experience in the arts and signage industry, Night Light Neon was created to keep the craft of neon alive. Not just alive, but to thrive in its potential applications across many industries and push the boundaries of the medium.

Neon is a labor of love because the medium changes meaning for each purpose. It can be an object. It can be a message. Or it can be symbol of quality. Depending on the application, neon changes our perception and that’s what is so exciting about it.
